About The Studio
My name is Angel, I am an artist/illustrator and business owner from Châteauguay, Québec, Canada, and I am the creator and owner of Angel de Lys Studio.
As a millennial otaku born in the 1980s, I have been passionate about art and animation for my entire life. I first discovered anime/manga at a very young age. My first glimpse happened when a Canadian TV station would play things like Speed Racer and the original Dragon Ball series, sometimes very late at night. I could tell that they were different from all of the other animated series, and I was instantly hooked.
I also got into Japanese video games from a young age. The very first one I obsessed over was Sonic The Hedgehog 2!
As a wife and mother of three (two teens and a pre-teen!), I have had the pleasure of sharing my love for anime with my loved ones. Gathering together in front of our TV to watch our favourite series as a family is very typical for us.
Besides anime/manga/gaming, I am also heavily inspired by the aesthetics and nostalgia of my youth. The colours and visuals that remind me of the 1980s and 1990s play a large role in my brand and design.
Originally from Montréal, Québec, I grew up in Le Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood and spent much of my childhood and teen years running around the city, shopping at boutiques that would sell anime/manga merchandise, and grabbing the latest and greatest JRPGs and fighting games from my local gaming stores. Many nights were spent drawing my favourite characters and my passion grew and grew.
My love for art and artistic expression never wavered and well into adulthood, I turned my passion into this business. I hope you enjoy my designs!
